It was a hot, sultry evening in Westerly, RI. I'm sure the beaches were packed earlier in the day. Arriving just 10 minutes before the start of the show, it looked like a slow night at the Knickerbocker. A few people sat at the bar while others grabbed tables and waited for Jeff and Co. to start.

As the boys took the stage, I could sense a bit of disappointment on the part of the band. It had been a raucous, crowded show the previous night at Black Eyed Sally's. But a few more patrons waltzed in, then a few more, and then...

...the flood gates just opened. It was as if people heard the music on the street and had to rush in to see what was going on. The band responded and began feeding off the crowd, which just kept growing and growing. Truly an amazing thing to observe.

It turned into a crowd of all ages with some terrific swing dancers to boot. Pretty soon the dance floor became mobbed and it stayed that way for the remainder of the show. Jeff took several walks/runs through the crowd, much to their delight, and the solos from his guitar and Danny's keyboards were just plain heavenly! And keeping it all in line is the best rhythm section I know of - Jon and Dave (with a few expert solos of their own!).

Speaking of Rhode island, Jeff will be at the Dutch Inn in Galilee on 7/30, and back at the Knick on 8/14. And luckily for us, there's lots of shows in between!
